Designing Experience

Lala Wallace worked for a local Oakland union when she was downsized. She was going to school to earn her degree in Marketing, paying for it on her own. She was suffering financial hardship and didn’t know where to turn.

When she approached ASSETS she was able to take her past experience as an assistant buyer in a retail store, her customer service experience and her recent college training and combine them all together working in the ASSETS Marketing Specialist Trainee program at a consignment shop. Now she is in charge of running the store as the acting manager, making decisions about design and layout and using her creative skills to market the shop.

Learn how Lala Wallace, Gloria Pitts and Rosemary Stevenson have been given a sense of empowerment through their involvement with ASSETS.
